Two dangerous products sold at major retailers are being yanked from shelves after reports of explosions and serious burns, exposing how foreign manufacturers continue putting American families at risk.
Story Highlights
- 201,000 camping stoves were recalled after 26 reports of explosions and fires that caused second-degree burns.
- 24,300 children’s helmets fail safety standards, risking deadly head injuries in crashes.
- The Taiwan-based manufacturer received multiple injury reports before the recall.
- Products have been sold nationwide at Walmart and Amazon for nearly three years.
Camping Stoves Present Explosion Hazard
The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued an urgent recall for Ozark Trail tabletop camping stoves after receiving 26 reports of units exploding or catching fire. Taiwan-based manufacturer China Window Industry Co. documented these dangerous incidents, with 16 cases resulting in serious injuries, including second-degree burns.
The dark green stoves, model BG2247A1 with orange Ozark Trail logos, were sold at Walmart stores nationwide and online from March 2023 through October 2025 for $8 to $45 each.

Children’s Safety Equipment Fails Protection Standards
A separate recall covers 24,300 Outdoor Master children’s helmets that fail to meet federal safety requirements, putting young riders at risk of potentially fatal head injuries.
The CPSC warned that these helmets cannot adequately protect children during crashes, defeating their primary safety purpose. Two models are affected: the blue OM-TD BIKE with dinosaur print and the deep green OM-KSKB, both sold in small sizes through Amazon and Walmart online platforms from June 2024 through February 2025 for $20 to $32.
Foreign Manufacturing Oversight Remains Problematic
These recalls highlight ongoing concerns about the quality control and safety standards of foreign manufacturers affecting American consumers. The camping stove incidents accumulated over months before triggering a recall, raising questions about the manufacturer’s reporting timelines and regulatory oversight.
Both products were widely distributed through major retail channels, demonstrating how defective foreign-made goods can reach thousands of American households before safety issues surface.
Consumers should immediately stop using both recalled products and seek refunds from their respective manufacturers. Walmart customers can return the camping stoves directly to stores, while helmet buyers should contact Outdoor Master for refund procedures.
The recall numbers are 26-120 for the stoves and 26-122 for the helmets, which consumers can reference when pursuing refunds or reporting additional safety incidents.
