Democrats are ramping up their push to impeach President Donald Trump following his decision to launch “Operation Midnight Hammer” against Iran, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez among the most vocal voices calling for impeachment.

This drastic military action, executed without congressional approval, has left Democrat leaders furious and concerned about the possibility of a long-term conflict.

On the heels of President Trump’s unilateral strike on Iran, Democrats led by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, are considering impeachment proceedings.

Ocasio-Cortez argues that Trump’s decision to bomb Iranian nuclear sites without Congress’s explicit authorization is a blatant violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.

Democrats see this as an abuse of executive power, emphasizing that the risk for unnecessary conflict is far too great to ignore.

Many within the party worry about entangling the U.S. in another long-standing Middle Eastern conflict.

“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” AOC wrote on X.

Despite these criticisms, the Democrat Party remains divided on the approach.

Some propose considering a war powers resolution rather than jumping straight to impeachment.

Senate Democrat Whip Dick Durbin expressed deep concern over Trump’s actions, stating they’ve brought the U.S. to the brink of a wider Middle Eastern conflict without necessary congressional approval.

The Constitution provides Congress the power to declare war, and Democrats demand accountability and more than mere rhetoric and unilateral decisions from the President.

Yet, some voices within the Democrat Party, like Senator John Fetterman, applaud Trump’s decision from a pro-Israel standpoint, complicating the unified push for impeachment.

Meanwhile, Republican support for Trump’s decision remains largely steady, with only a few dissenters like Thomas Massie raising concerns over escalating conflict.

As the debate continues, Democrats risk appearing divided and unfocused, while Republicans rally behind the President’s tough stance on Iran.

With these deep-seated tensions, both domestically and internationally, the question remains: will the Democrats take the plunge into impeachment, or will they find another path to address what they view as an overreach of presidential power?
