Tragic Loss of Medical Heroes

On August 5, 2025, a CSI Aviation Beechcraft King Air 300 crashed and exploded in flames near Chinle Airport on the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona.

The medical transport aircraft carried two pilots and two healthcare providers who were traveling from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to retrieve a critically ill patient from the Indian Health Service hospital.

All four crew members perished in the crash, which occurred around 12:40 p.m. when tribal authorities received reports of black smoke rising from the airport area.

Federal Investigation Underway

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration immediately launched investigations into the crash cause. Chinle Airport was closed indefinitely to allow investigators access to the wreckage and debris field.

NTSB officials have not released preliminary findings, and the victims’ names remain withheld pending family notification. The aircraft was operated by CSI Aviation, an Albuquerque-based company that provides air medical services throughout the Southwest region.
