With widespread criticism from city officials and affected communities, the unrest is overshadowed by significant resistance.

ICE is set to deploy Special Response Teams (SRTs) in New York City, Philadelphia, northern Virginia, Chicago, and Seattle.

These elite SWAT teams are targeting high-risk individuals and were recently used in Los Angeles to control protests, Fox 5 DC reports.

The decision to target Democrat states has not gone unnoticed, sparking criticism over the agency’s motives.

Nationwide protests dubbed “No Kings Day” are planned for June 14, opposing the administration’s policies.

Organizers seek to exhibit democracy and reject what they see as creeping authoritarianism.

Tensions are expected to be highest in Philadelphia, where the largest protest is plannedโ€”a city where SRT units have been deployed to prepare for potential unrest.

Despite planned protests, those involved in planning stress that enforcement operations will proceed, possibly escalating to more arrests.

As these operations coincide with a military parade in Washington, D.C. for the Army’s 250th anniversary and President Trump’s birthday, the administration has vowed to meet any demonstrations with considerable force.

According to California Governor Gavin Newsom, President Trump has strategically deployed the National Guard to manage protests, describing this as a “brazen abuse of power.”

Newsom criticized Trump for escalating tensions and placing Californians at risk.

In a public statement, he exclaimed, “We honor their bravery. But we do not want our streets militarized by our own armed forces. Not in LA. Not in California. Not anywhere.”

Philadelphia is expected to experience significant unrest, aligned with the broader opposition across other cities.

Protestors in New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco continue to resist ICE’s actions.

Governor Newsom highlighted his concerns about militarizing streets and targeting individuals.

He urged people to refrain from complying with what he perceives as overreach by the federal government and emphasized non-violent resistance.

With the operation moving forward, more than 370 arrests have been made across various protests.
