This alarming incident raises questions about the effectiveness of our immigration system and why such individuals remain in the country despite multiple crossings.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrested Ramon Morales-Reyes in Wisconsin after a concerning handwritten letter surfaced on May 21.

The letter, sent to an ICE officer, allegedly detailed Morales-Reyes’ intentions to assassinate President Trump with a .30-06 Springfield rifle, before self-deporting.

His history of penetrating U.S. borders multiple times (1998-2005) suggests glaring security inadequacies.

Despite claims, Morales-Reyes’ criminal record reveals concerning behavior. Past charges include felony hit-and-run and domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct.

Critics argue that these red flags should have preceded deportation but didn’t, leading to questions about governmental oversight.

Ramon Morales-Reyes justified his threat as retribution for President Trump’s immigration policies, accusing them of harmful impacts on Mexicans, Fox News reports.

In his letter, he wrote: “I will self deport myself back to Mexico but not before I use my 30 yard 6 to shoot your precious president in is head – I will see him at one of his big ralleys [sic].”

This rhetoric fuels concerns over the increased peril surrounding President Trump’s public engagements.

Following this threatening revelation, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem quickly confirmed Morales-Reyes’ arrest, emphasizing the crucial role ICE plays in safeguarding President Trump.

Noem stated, “Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars.”

Her words underline the importance of ICE’s continued presence, especially amid consistent calls for its defunding.

“Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars,” said Secretary Kristi Noem.

“This threat comes not even a year after President Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania and less than two weeks after former FBI Director Comey called for the President’s assassination. All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric. I will continue to take all measures necessary to ensure the protection of President Trump,” she added.

Currently detained in Dodge County Jail, Wisconsin, Morales-Reyes faces deportation proceedings.

The arrest follows a spate of similar incidents where threats against ICE officials have emerged in Texas and North Carolina.

Under Secretary Noem’s leadership, efforts to tackle such threats remain a priority.
