VIDEO: Tucker Threatened

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – A surprise threat has emerged against former Fox News host Tucker Carlson as European Union lawmakers suggested he should be slapped with sanctions for interviewing Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who two years back ignited the biggest war in decades by invading Ukraine.

The possibility that Carlson could be sanctioned by the EU has been revealed by both active and former European Parliament members.

During a trip to Moscow, Carlson engaged with Putin for an unreleased interview focusing on the Russia’s war against a pro-Western Ukraine, reports The Daily Caller where Carlson is one of the co-founders.

“As Putin is a war criminal and the EU sanctions all who assist him in that effort, it seems logical that the External Action Service examines [Carlson’s] case as well,” Guy Verhofstadt, a former Belgian Prime Minister and current member of the European Parliament, told Newsweek.

Criticism also came from Urmas Paet, a former Estonian Foreign Minister and current parliament member, who accused Carlson of not adhering to journalistic integrity by showing a bias towards the Russian regime and consistently undermining Ukraine.

“Carlson is not being a real journalist since he has clearly expressed his sympathy for the Russian regime and Putin and has constantly disparaged Ukraine, the victim of Russian aggression,” said Paet.

“So, for such propaganda for a criminal regime, you can end up on the list of sanctions. This concerns primarily travel ban to EU countries,” he added.

For the EU to enact sanctions against Carlson, the process requires the EU External Action Service (EEAS) to evaluate the evidence before referring the matter to the European Council for a conclusive decision.

This step emphasizes that imposing sanctions is not technically up to the European Parliament members.

At the same time, EU officials told Newsweek it would be challenging to associate Carlson directly with the Russian war effort.

Nevertheless, several EU parliamentarians maintain that Carlson’s activities indirectly support Russia’s military actions, advocating for his accountability.

“He is no longer a newsman, but a propagandist for the most heinous regime on European soil and the one which is most dangerous to our peace and security,” commented former EU parliament member Luis Garicano.

In his video message, Carlson explained he wanted to show the American public a different viewpoint on Russia’s war on Ukraine.
