(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Infamous former White House Chief Medical Adviser Anthony Fauci is not getting off the hook for his role in the COVID-19 pandemic as he might have hoped, as he has now been summoned for a two-day deposition by the GOP-led House select committee on COVID-19.
House Coronavirus Select Subcommittee chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) has informed Fauci through a letter that he is expected to participate in a two-day transcribed interview on January 8-9, 2024.
As the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Fauci will be required to provide seven hours of testimony each day, not including breaks, and he will be accompanied by two personal and two government counsel.
“Dr. Fauci was the face of America’s public health response during the COVID-19 pandemic, and his testimony will serve as a crucial component of the Select Subcommittee’s investigations into the origin of COVID-19, coercive mandates, gain-of-function type research, scientific censorship, and more,” Wenstrup declared.
The hearing aims to utilize Fauci’s extensive knowledge of COVID-19 to assist the committee in examining and evaluating the federal government’s pandemic response and preparing for potential future pandemics, National Review explains in a report.
Fauci is also mandated to appear at a public hearing scheduled for sometime next year.
This development comes after months of discussions, culminating in an agreement reached on November 3 between the committee and Fauci.
His upcoming interview in early January will be his first appearance before the 118th Congress, which began its session earlier this year.
Fauci, who left NIAID at the end of 2022, had previously appeared on Capitol Hill, engaging in frequent debates with Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) regarding detailed information about gain-of-function research in Communist China’s Wuhan, believed to have contributed to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The Coronavirus Select Subcommittee earlier disclosed emails indicating Fauci’s awareness of the above-mentioned research before the pandemic’s emergence in the US.
The panel also recently released evidence suggesting Fauci influenced the drafting of an April 2020 scientific paper aimed at refuting the lab leak theory.
Evidence has emerged showing Fauci’s knowledge that the National Institutes of Health funded gain-of-function research on novel coronaviruses in China as the pandemic began.
The committee also alleged Fauci made a covert visit to CIA headquarters to influence the agency’s investigation into Covid-19’s origins.
