Specifically, South Carolina authorities recently responded to a deceptive emergency call at the residence of Nikki Haley, a prominent political figure. The call falsely claimed that a man had shot a woman and was planning to harm himself at Haley’s home.

The swatting incident occurred on December 30th on Kiawah Island. Notably, neither Nikki Haley nor her son were at home during this event.
Kiawah Island’s Director of Public Safety, Craig Harris, shared details of the incident.
In an email obtained by Reuters, Harris revealed that an unidentified individual contacted 911 and falsely claimed to have shot his girlfriend. The caller also threatened self-harm while falsely stating he was at Nikki Haley’s residence.
Nikki Haley, who has served as both the United States Ambassador to the United Nations and the Governor of South Carolina, is currently making an effort to win the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election.
Despite facing stiff competition from former President Trump, who has led in both the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary, Haley remains the last significant challenger in the race against Trump.
To date, law enforcement has not identified or apprehended any suspects related to this case.
In a separate communication, an FBI official in South Carolina informed Harris and other law enforcement authorities that federal agents are actively investigating the hoax call. They intend to conduct a thorough “threat assessment” regarding the incident.
