(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a development that will hardly dispel the American public’s conspiracy suspicions about January 6, 2021, Ray Epps, a US Capitol protester many suspect was a government agent, has been criminally charged — but only with a misdemeanor.

On Tuesday, the US Justice Department filed charges against Epps in the US District Court in Washington, DC, over his role in the January 6 events.
Epps, a former US Marine, was charged with impeding and disrupting the “orderly conduct of Government business,” National Review reports.
According to the report, although he was present in the crowd, Epps never entered the US Capitol building after protesters breached it.
He was filmed on January 5, 2021, a day before the Capitol events, telling other Trump supporters to penetrate the Capitol building. Footage from J6 shows him firing up the protesters.
Some right-wing pundits, most notably former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, have asserted that Epps was an undercover agent for the US government, among many others, and worked to provoke violence and “stage-manage the insurrection,” thus enticing Trump supporters to break the law.
In July, the former Marine filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox over Carlson’s assertions.
“Just as Fox had focused on voting machine companies when falsely claiming a rigged election, Fox knew it needed a scapegoat for January 6th. It settled on Ray Epps and began promoting the lie that Epps was a federal agent who incited the attack on the Capitol,” his lawsuit argues.
It says he received death threats and had to sell his ranch in Arizona because of Fox’s coverage.
“It’s not in my DNA. I don’t break the law,” Epps told the former January 6 congressional committee in 2022.
The report notes that January 6 protesters were typically charged only if they “entered the Capitol, fought with police officers, or destroyed property.”
“Not suspicious at all! Nearly 3 years after J6, Ray Epps is finally charged … with “disorderly conduct,” Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk commented on X.
“The man who yelled for people to storm the Capitol, who was videotaped multiple times actually trying to incite a riot, somehow avoids seditious conspiracy with no terrorism enhancement while people who never entered the Capitol are rotting away in a DC jail,” Kirk added.
