In announcing his decision to quit the race, DeSantis said, “It’s clear to me a majority of primary voters want to give Donald Trump a second chance.”
Admitting there was little more he could do, DeSantis stated, “If there was anything I could do to produce a favorable outcome, more campaign stops, more interviews, I would do it. But I can’t ask our supporters to donate their time and volunteer their resources if we don’t have a path to victory.”
Having now endorsed Trump, DeSantis took a swipe at the only remaining GOP opponent of Trump’s, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, calling her “a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism” and part of “the old Republican guard of yesterday.”
