Earlier this week, he dashed into the flames engulfing his childhood home to rescue his parents from a severe fire, Breitbart News reports.
Following this heroic act, Coleman was admitted to a hospital for emergency care due to smoke inhalation but is now conscious and responsive.
His daughter, Kenzie Coleman, captured a poignant moment on video, showing her father in the hospital, warmly greeting his family members from his bed. During this emotional reunion, Coleman expressed his thoughts on the harrowing experience.
“I had to make a decision [regarding the inferno]. It was already horrible! I couldn’t breathe!”
Overwhelmed with relief and gratitude for his parents’ safety, he added, “I’m the happiest man in the world. I swear to God, I’m so lucky! I can’t believe my parents are alive!”
In a valiant effort, Coleman initially managed to save his parents.
However, he endured severe smoke inhalation after re-entering the burning house to attempt a rescue of his dog, Hammer.
The attempt ended in heartbreak, as Hammer perished in the fire.
Coleman, deeply affected by the loss, expressed his sorrow in the video, saying, “I couldn’t find Hammer!”
The fire, which investigators suspect originated in the kitchen, left his parents’ residence in ruins.
Coleman’s legacy in martial arts is distinguished by his achievements as a two-time heavyweight champion in the UFC and a victor of the PRIDE Grand Prix.
