NEW: Deadly Drone Attack Update

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – A truly distressing revelation has disclosed that the reason three American troops perished in a drone attack by Iranian Islamist terrorist proxies in Jordan over the weekend had to do with US air defenses mistaking the incoming enemy aircraft for a friendly one.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal citing unnamed US military sources, the enemy drone was mistaken for a friendly drone coming at the same time to the US outpost near the Jordan-Syria border.

This allegedly led to confusion and a delayed response in engaging the hostile drone.

This delay allowed the drone, launched by Iran-supported militants, to hit the living quarters of the soldiers, resulting in three deaths and at least 34 injuries.

In her briefing to reporters, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh highlighted the unusual nature of this attack, noting its impact on the living quarters where soldiers were sleeping.

“I think what was different about this attack is where it landed — it did impact in where our living quarters are. I believe it was pretty early morning, so people were actually in their beds when the drone impacted,” Singh said.

“[US] Central Command is looking into what can be done when it comes to our air defenses and looking into this incident to determine how best we can move or how fast we can further strengthen our air defense systems,” she added.

Singh also provided data on the frequency of drone attacks in the Middle East, revealing that there have been 165 attacks on US forces since October 17 — 66 in Iraq, 98 in Syria, and the recent one in Jordan.

She reported about 80 American service members sustaining non-serious injuries in these incidents, aside from the three fatalities in Jordan.

“To my knowledge, there was nothing different or new about this attack than [from what] we’ve seen in other facilities that house our service members. Unfortunately, this attack was successful, but we can’t discount that [earlier] other attacks, whether it be Iraq or Syria, were not intended to kill our service members,” the US Defense Department spokeswoman said.

President Joe Biden attributed the attack to “radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iran.”

A pro-Iranian terrorist group has admitted on its Telegram channel the assault was in retaliation for a US strike in Baghdad that killed two terrorists.

Biden has vowed to respond to the attack.
