NOW: Impeachment Articles Unveiled

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – The day of reckoning is finally coming for Alejandro Mayorkas, the pro-illegal immigration Secretary of Homeland Security, as House Republicans have just announced their articles of impeachment for ousting one of the Biden administration’s most notorious Cabinet members.

The GOP’s resolution to impeach Mayorkas over the enormous illegal immigrant invasion allowed by the Biden administration in the past three years contains two distinct articles.

The first alleges that Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has broken immigration laws through various policies implemented by the Biden administration.

The second article merges several points from the Republican party, accusing Mayorkas of not fulfilling his responsibilities, misleading Congress, and hindering their investigation, The Hill reports.

The House Homeland Security Committee is scheduled to review the resolution in a meeting on Tuesday.

Additionally, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has committed to presenting these articles on the House floor as soon as possible.

“These articles lay out a clear, compelling, and irrefutable case for Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ impeachment. He has willfully and systemically refused to comply with immigration laws enacted by Congress. He has breached the public trust by knowingly making false statements to Congress and the American people, and obstructing congressional oversight of his department,” stated Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) in a release.

“Congress has a duty to see that the executive branch implements and enforces the laws we have passed. Yet Secretary Mayorkas has repeatedly refused to do so. His lawless behavior was exactly what the Framers gave us the impeachment power to remedy,” the GOP lawmaker added.

The Hill stresses that Mayorkas’ potential impeachment will be only the second attempt in history to remove a Cabinet member. The first one was in the 1870s.

However, it is unlikely to gain significant support in the Democrat-controlled Senate, where a two-thirds majority is required for removal.

The centrist news outlet notes that Democrats, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and even some conservatives view the motion to impeach Mayorkas as an overreach of congressional authority by the GOP, catering to its most extreme members.

They argue that the Republicans are attempting to impeach Mayorkas over policy disagreements, which do not meet the constitutional criteria of high crimes and misdemeanors.

“This markup is just more of the same political games from House Homeland Security Committee (CHS) Republicans. They don’t want to fix the problem; they want to campaign on it,” the DHS said in a memo
