(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In a dreadful warning, the United Kingdom, one of America’s top allies, has declared that tensions between Western nations and their enemies are running so high that a new world war is not only a realistic possibility but could also be expected soon – meaning the West must prepare.
The Western world, having moved beyond the post-Cold War era, now finds itself in a critical “pre-war” phase, with limited time available to ready for and avert future conflicts.
This stark warning comes from the UK government, which asserts that we are entering a “much more troubled world,” Breitbart News reports.
In a significant address, the UK government suggests that China closely observes the West’s commitment to Ukraine.
The concern is whether Western support for the Kyiv government, particularly in defense matters, will wane.
This observation is part of a broader call to the US-led NATO alliance, emphasizing the need for readiness to engage in major warfare on several fronts in the near future.
“Now is the time for all allies and democratic nations across the world to… make sure their defense spending is growing too. Because as discussed, the era of the peace dividend is over,” British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps declared Monday in a speech in London.
“In five years time we could be looking at multiple theatres including Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea… We find ourselves at the dawn of this new era. [The] Berlin Wall a distant memory but we have come full circle, moving from a post-war to a pre-war world. An age of idealism has been replaced by a period of hard-headed realism,” Shapps warned further.
He detailed Britain’s efforts to brace for this anticipated multi-faceted conflict, referencing the UK’s support to Ukraine, its leadership in the largest NATO deployment since the Cold War, the formation of a new UK-Japan-Italy fighter coalition, and the creation of the Australia-UK-U.S. submarine coalition.
He mentioned the government’s goal to allocate 2.5% of its GDP to defense spending as soon as feasible.
In the short term, Shapps emphasized that Western nations “must not” let down Ukraine, which has been resisting a full-fledged military invasion by Putin’s Russia for almost two years now.
Shapps stressed that failing to help Ukraine win would not only hand victory to Putin’s invasion but also send a global signal of weakness.
He specifically stressed Communist China’s scrutiny of Western patience in this context, as the Beijing regime is eager to capture Taiwan, a wealthy informal US ally.
