(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Shocking his fans and fellow actors, Carl Weathers unexpectedly passed away at 76.

Since the moment of the announcement, social media has been filled with tributes from near and far — perhaps none more heartfelt than that of Sylvester Stallone, who paid tribute to Weathers in a video you can watch further down this post.

While no cause of death has been announced, Weathers’ family said he died “peacefully in his sleep.”

As for the tributes, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who starred with Weathers in Predator, said, “Carl Weathers will always be a legend. An extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor, and a great person. We couldn’t have made Predator without him. And we certainly wouldn’t have had such a wonderful time making it.”

Jesse Ventura, who also appeared in Predator, said Weathers was a “phenomenal talent, a true professional, and a dear friend.”

And Adam Sandler, who formed a long-lasting friendship with Weathers and starred alongside him in the film Happy Gilmore, said of Weathers, “Great dad. Great actor. Great athlete. So much fun to be around always. Smart as hell. Loyal as hell. Funny as hell. Loved his sons more than anything. What a guy!! Everyone loved him. My wife and I had the best times with him every time we saw him. Love to his entire family and Carl will always be known as a true legend.”

But perhaps no one spoke with more emotion than Stallone, who recorded his tribute to the man who played Apollo Creed alongside his Rocky, saying in part, “Carl Weathers was such an integral part of my life, my success…I give him incredible credit…When he walked into that room, and I saw him for the first time, I saw greatness, but I didn’t realize how great. I never could have accomplished what we did with Rocky without him. He was absolutely brilliant…He was magic…”
