Biden Moves To Crush Coal

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Seemingly seeking to destroy completely America’s energy independence to please the green leftists, President Joe Biden’s administration is expected to support a UN climate plan that would devastate the coal industry in the United States, a report reveals.

The strategy to be presented at the upcoming United Nations (UN) climate summit, COP28, could significantly impact the coal industry, The Daily Caller notes in a report.

According to Reuters, the US is set to support a French initiative aimed at globally banning private financing for coal-fired power plants.

This move, as reported by Reuters, is expected to create a divide among nations, particularly between countries like the US and France, and others such as China and India, which rely heavily on coal for economical and reliable electricity generation.

The proposal involves the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) establishing coal standards for private financing firms.

The US, the EU and Canada have been collaborating on plans to phase out coal over international climate goals.

India relies on coal for about 73% of its electricity needs, and China has been rapidly expanding its coal power infrastructure, with an average of two new plants each week in 2022, according to the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air.

“France has no coal, so their position banning it is easy. The US, on the other hand, has the largest coal reserves— by far— in the world,” commented Dan Kish, a senior research fellow for the Institute for Energy Research.

“Coal is the leading source of electricity in the world. All this does is make the rest of the world that is trying to get affordable electricity for their people align themselves with China and against the US Uncle Sam is once again made to look like a Dunce under Joe Biden,” he added.

India is expected to resist the proposal at COP28, particularly any suggestion to establish a deadline for eliminating fossil fuels.

Indian delegates might also advocate for developed nations like the US and France to commit to becoming carbon negative, rather than just carbon neutral, by 2050.

John Kerry, the Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, hinted that the US might contribute “millions” to the “loss and damages” fund.

Meanwhile, China, the world’s largest emitter and second-largest economy, is not expected to have significant obligations due to its classification as a developing country.
