Supremes Enter New Abortion Fight

Abortion word

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – Following an appeal by the Biden administration seeking to coerce Americans into accepting its pro-abortion agenda, the Supreme Court has consented to review a pivotal case concerning access to abortion medication after a lower court imposed restrictions on the availability of abortion pills.

The case in question originates from a decision made by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in August, which concluded that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) overstepped its legal bounds when it relaxed safety protocols for prescribing mifepristone, a widely used abortifacient.

Alongside the administration’s appeal, the Supreme Court will also consider a related appeal filed by Danco Laboratories, the company responsible for manufacturing the drug.

Initially, when the FDA approved mifepristone, stringent safety measures were taken for its distribution. Said measures included mandatory in-person prescriptions and medical supervision, with its use being sanctioned only up to seven weeks into gestation.

However, these protocols were relaxed in 2016 during the Obama administration, extending the permissible usage of the drug to ten weeks of pregnancy. In a further relaxation of standards in 2021, allegedly attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Biden administration eliminated the necessity for in-person consultations, thereby facilitating telemedicine prescriptions and mail delivery of the abortion medication.

The FDA’s decision to ease these critical safety measures was legally challenged by a coalition of Texas doctors and pro-life advocates, leading to the 5th Circuit Court’s ruling in their favor. The court’s judgment found the FDA’s actions under both the Obama and Biden administrations unlawful. This ruling, if sustained, would mean a substantial impediment to the distribution of abortion pills across state lines, profoundly impacting the pro-abortion agenda.

The ruling by the 5th Circuit Court is currently suspended while the Supreme Court prepares to deliberate on the appeal. The Court is anticipated to engage in arguments in the upcoming months and is expected to deliver a ruling by the end of June. The decision of the Supreme Court in this matter is poised to have significant implications for the availability and regulation of abortion medication in the United States.
