Pence’s support with likely 2024 GOP primary voters has typically hovered around the single digits, according to multiple polls in the past few months.
The vice president’s 2024 campaign reported raising $3.3 million in the third quarter and carrying a debt of $620,000, according to reports by NBC News and The Hill.
The campaign disclosed it has a cash balance of $1.2 million. Moreover, Pence contributed $150,000 of his own money to the campaign, an unnamed campaign official told The Hill.
The report notes that Pence’s fundraising efforts appear modest compared to former President Donald Trump and other contenders such as Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis and former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley.
This difference highlights the challenges Pence is encountering in establishing a foothold in a competitive field, the centrist news outlet comments.
It observes that Pence has placed considerable emphasis on policy matters and conventional conservative principles since launching his campaign in June.
He has intentionally differentiated his stances from Trump and fellow candidates, especially on topics like abortion and foreign policy.

Pence is hopeful about a commendable outcome in the upcoming Iowa caucuses in January, believing that the state’s evangelical electorate might resonate more with his campaign messaging, The Hill points out.
According to a YouGov/CBS News poll conducted in September, Pence garnered a support of 6 percent, trailing Haley at 8%, DeSantis at 21%, and Trump leading with 51%.
The report notes that the fundraising figures expose Pence’s uphill battle as he competes in the polls against candidates like Trump and DeSantis.
In stark contrast to Pence’s $3.3 million, Trump’s campaign reported an impressive $45 million in the third quarter of 2023.
Meanwhile, DeSantis and Haley accumulated about $15 million and $11 million, respectively, giving them a considerable monetary edge over Pence to allocate toward staffing and promotions ahead of the Iowa caucuses.
