Gunman Opens Fire In Courthouse

(TheRedAlertNews.com) – In an extremely dangerous act of violence at the Colorado Supreme Court, which occurred just days after the court removed Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 GOP presidential primary ballot, a heavily armed man has been arrested after he opened fire inside the building and held a security guard hostage.

Specifically, at approximately 1:15 a.m., following a car accident outside the court building, 44-year-old Brandon Olsen entered the courthouse after forcibly taking keys from a security guard.

As Denver police officers encircled the building, Olsen is reported to have fired more shots, though it’s unclear if he aimed at the police.

Inside, Olsen is said to have traversed various levels of the building, discharging a firearm and causing damage.

By 3 a.m., Olsen reportedly contacted 911 and surrendered to the authorities, with the police mentioning in their communications that he had caused “significant and extensive damage” to the judicial center.

Reports also surfaced of a fire in a stairwell that activated the building’s sprinkler system, though the police could not confirm the fire’s origin.

After his apprehension, Olsen was taken to the Denver Health Medical Center, cleared by doctors, and transported to Denver Police headquarters.

Olsen faces charges of robbery, burglary, and arson.

The judicial center, which also houses the Colorado Court of Appeals, was closed for investigation.

In a statement, the CSP reiterated the seriousness with which they are treating the incident, noting its apparent lack of association with previous threats against the Colorado Supreme Court Justices.

The Denver Police Department emphasized the gravity of the incident but indicated that it appears unconnected to prior threats against the Colorado Supreme Court justices.

The department and the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) view this as an isolated incident unrelated to the court’s decision to exclude former President Donald Trump from the state ballot.

Nevertheless, the investigation into Olsen’s motives continues, Colorado Public Radio reports.

Currently, federal and local law enforcement agencies in Colorado are investigating death threats against the justices following their decision to disqualify former president Donald Trump from Colorado’s 2024 GOP primary ballot.
